Basic Information

Homo sapiens / Cervical Cancer
Species: Human
Category: Human Cancer Studies
Description: Cervical cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancers in low- and middle-income countries, contributing to 10–15% of cancer death in females worldwide. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer result from infection with the human papillomavirus. Even if cervical HPV infection is incredibly common, cervical cancer is relatively rare. The frequency of cervical cancer after treatment for dysplasia is lower than 1% and mortality is less than 0.5%. The prevention of cervical cancer includes screening and vaccination.
